FAQ’s

How many dogs can I bring?

For a safe and enjoyable weekend we can only allow 1 dog per handler.

Can anyone join-up and come along?

“Yes if you’re over 18 – but we need to determine whether your dog is socially equipped to fully enjoy this weekend. A behavioural Registration Form is to be completed for each dog. Dog or human aggressive dogs can’t be involved. If unsure, a quick assessment by a dogLOGIC trainer will determine your dog’s suitability. If you think your dog needs a suitability assessment call Julie Adams on 0421 053 438 for an assessment appointment.

My partner wants to come but doesn’t want to participate. Can they come along?

Yes but if they want to come for the BBQ, Lunch & Dinners then they pay the non-participant rate.

I want to bring my puppy for socialisation. Can he/she come along?

Yes but dog’s under the age of 12-months can’t participate in the active sports like agility. Your puppy must be fully toilet trained as they will be sharing your accommodation.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

Current C5 or appropriate titre certificate.

Does my dog need any special training to attend Camp K9?

No, but as there are no fences at Riverwood Downs your dog needs to come when called, and be able to do simple behaviours such as sit and stay for short periods for their own safety.

What do I need to bring for my dog?

Your dog’s collar and/or harness, lead, bed, food, bowls, treats, dog towel and anything else your dog may need…oh and of course, plenty of poo bags.

What do I need to bring for me?

Yourself, your dog, comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes. Wet weather gear is also advisable (see below). We recommend that you bring an old towel or two if your dog likes to go swimming.

What if I forget to bring flea/tick control, dog food or training treats?

The canteen/cafe has all of these items and more available for purchase.

Why can’t I book Camp K9 and my accommodation together at the same time?

Firstly we are two separate companies and secondly this way you are not locked into staying at Riverwood Downs as some people would rather find their own accommodation elsewhere.

****Please Note – There is very limited mobile phone reception. There is a public phone available for use at standard payphone charges as well as free WiFi at the Kiosk.

I only want to participate in some of the Camp K9 activities, not all of them, so how much do I pay?

It’s your choice as to how much you and your dog participate so there are no discounted rates for this.

Can I just come for the daytime activities and not stay at Riverwood Downs?

Yes but you need to book in advance and has to be for the entire weekend activities, (ie the full Camp K9 rate) and is non refundable and non transferable. Please ensure you have your accommodation booked before you arrive at Camp K9 as Riverwood Downs is in a remote location and there may not be any accommodation available at the Camp if you decide to stay at the last moment.

What’s included in my cost?

Your Camp K9 fee includes access to all the weekend’s activities & seminars, as well as all lunch & dinners on Thurs, Fri and Saturday as well as morning and afternoon tea each day. You will also receive an information pack and goody bags. Breakfast is provided with some accommodation bookings, though this is up to each participant to organise.

I have special dietary needs – can you cater for these?

Yes – but only in a limited capacity and you need to let us know well in advance for Vegetarian; Gluten Free and Lactose Intolerant participants. We would recommend that you bring some snack food for in between meals. There is also a kiosk at the venue.

What happens if it rains?

We have a contingency plan for all activities if the weather is inclement. As local weather is unpredictable we advise that wet weather gear be packed.

What if I need to cancel?

We understand that plans can change and we can refund your Camp K9 fee less a $50 admin fee no later than 30 days prior to the camp. Cancelation after this will incur payment of the full rate. You can transfer your participation fee to another person, however we will need this information in writing (email is fine) and there will be a transfer fee of $35 to complete this.
